Important Update Regarding Come From Away

After careful consideration, Ojai Performing Arts Theater has made the difficult decision to cancel our planned production of Come From Away.

We were fortunate to attract an exceptional group of performers and had identified nearly the entire company. However, Come From Away is a uniquely demanding ensemble production that requires a complete cast from the very first rehearsal. Despite extensive outreach and recruitment efforts, several key roles remained unfilled, making it impossible to assemble the full company required within the necessary timeframe.

This decision was not made lightly. Throughout the process, our creative team, producers, and volunteers explored every reasonable avenue available to bring this production to the stage. Ultimately, we concluded that proceeding without a complete company would not serve the material, the artists, or our audience.

While disappointing, we believe this decision reflects responsible stewardship of the organization and a commitment to the standards of excellence that guide OPAT's work. Our obligation is not simply to produce a show, but to produce work that honors the material, supports the artists involved, and delivers the quality our community deserves.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who auditioned, volunteered, supported, and championed this production. Your enthusiasm, talent, and commitment reminded us once again of the remarkable artistic community we are privileged to serve.
